Slow down

So the weather took that final turn. It's cold and the fall has hit its stride. The leaves are almost at peak and everything just seems to have slowed down. The music slows down as well it seems, either by choice or maybe by causality but it defiantly does. This play list is a sample of my slowed down tastes as of late with one little pop tune as an exception, though it has a succinct correlation to another song on the list so it feels just.

Sufjan Stevens - Chicago - This guy is just good isn't he? Not much here to say, the song says it all so well.

Colin Meloy - The Ballad of El Goodo (Big Star Cover) - I love Mr. Meloy's slow jams so much that I had to put two on here. "But guns are meant to be stuck by."

Ben Gibbard - Joga (Bjork Cover) - Mr. Gibbard makes a triumphant return to the play list with this amazing cover. I just realized how entirely "emo" this whole play list is going to be. Sorry. Next time...Maiden,
lots and lots of Maiden.

The Decemberists - The Crane Wife 3 - Great track from the newly released album and the second song voiced by Mr. Meloy on this list. Amazing storyteller and lyricist this guy.

The Reindeer Section - Your Sweet Voice - From a side project for the lead singer of Snow Patrol. I found this song just last Thursday and am quite taken with it.

Ray LaMontagne - Trouble (Live) - We've discussed this before but let this serve as one more reminder, Ray is much cooler than you.

The Weakerthans - Slips and Tangles - This might as well be any Weakerthans track as I've just been listening to everything by them lately but I love the sense of isolation inflicted with "affection not embrace" and the way he seems to explain perfectly that he can't explain it. Also it feels like a waltz no?

Snow Patrol - Hands Open - All right here is my guilty little sin of a song. I was a fan of Snow Patrol back before the god-awful Greys Anatomy show turned them into the nu Coldplay so I get a pass on that. The main reason this song is here is because at the one forty minute mark they reference the first track in this play list and that is a might bit gangster.
