Dual hawks
So most of the cats I work with are a tad bit older than me and are constantly fascinated by the fact that stuff they're into was around well before I was born. This makes them feel old. This kind of led to a disscussion about "emo" one day and how back in the day its conception was meant to be an insult. The first time I was called emo was by one of my hardcore friends in highschool (dude rocked dual mohawks, that's hardcore). I'd never heard it before. This was before Dashboard made it cool to be emo. And now it's sort of a weird floating term that's attached to lots of things. So I tried to make an emo playlist. It didn't really work. It's more of an indie/emo playlist and I kind of lost interest in it half way through. It's still good music and I think it has a nice flow as a playlist, starts slow, builds a bit, then comes back down at the end.
Joshua Radin - Winter - I thought this song was appropriate since it was like crazy warm here lately but of course this weekend it dropped like twenty degrees and now it's supposed to snow tomorrow. It's still a good song though.
Sun Kill Moon - Exit Does Not Exist (Modest Mouse Cover) - Mark Kozelek is awesome, there I said it, it's official. How you take a Modest Mouse track and make it your own is beyond me. His own stuff is just as amazing.
The Appleseed Cast - Fight Song - This is my friend Kraig's favorite song by the cast and with good reason. They just manage to capture that feeling so well.
Brand New - Luca - Again with the Brand New? Yeah. Get this album. This song has such an amazing build, listen to it loud.
The Format - Dog Problems - The title track off the album that was released this summer and with good reason. The explosion in the middle of this song just says so much.
The Get Up Kids - Red Letter Day - I can't believe this is the first Get Up Kids track I've ever posted. It's a good one to start off with though.
The Scene Aesthetic - The Alamo Is No Place For Dancing - See, the emo kids agree, Texas sucks.
Acceptance - Take Cover (Acoustic) - The best thing about this song is that it was a myspace exclusive and this version was clearly recorded on a computer because you can here a file download prompt and it then being opened. Brilliant. Also this band is now broken up. Poetic? Appropriate? Emo.
Also I know I've never commented back to anyone in the comments section and I'm going to try and remedy that. So say something mean and we can get in a fight.
